You are here: Home / eCommerce / Ecommerce Trends You Need To Know About

By Zoe Schofield

Nowadays, everyone can open an online store and sell items they don’t even have stored. This is called drop shipping and it is only one part of e-commerce. The online market is now very competitive because of new technologies and systems that allow us to open a business in one day. A good thing is that trends are changing fast so only the ones who invest enough effort will be on the top.

Owning a business can be really stressful if you don’t have enough people working for you so many owners hire agencies to do tasks for them. Once you get enough clients and customers, it is recommended to hire a digital marketing agency and e-commerce agency so you can focus on improvement and growth. But, you need to be constantly updated so you can make the best decisions in the future.

Environmental Topics

The product you are selling needs to solve a problem and attract the customer itself. When your clients connect with the item through a certain emotion, it will be much easier to build a brand out of it. One of the things that impact the decision of buyers is an environmental concern most of them have.

You can probably notice that more people are talking about climate change and are engaging more with companies that support it. A great way to boost your business is to make sure your practices are environmentally friendly. The demand for taking care of our environment is increased by more than 100% and the brands should be there to support the consumers. If your products can’t have any connection with it, you can organize an event that will support this new trend.

Mobile Shopping

A trend that is going on for a long time is mobile commerce. The sales made from mobile devices are increasing every year and it’s estimated that more than 60% of online sales will be done through mobile devices. If you want to keep up with your competitors, you can’t ignore these figures. The overall usage of phones is increased and many websites decided to focus only on design for them.

The majority of online searches are done through phones before they make the purchase. The customers feel more comfortable making purchases online more than ever. New generations are the majority of buyers because they are used to it from a young age. It is a must to have a website optimized for them.

Voice Search and Social Media

Voice search will be a big trend in 2020 when more users get used to it and when the majority of online stores optimize their pages for it. More than 10% of sales are made only by voice. It is estimated that the number will grow to 50% by 2022. The biggest influence on this trend had Amazon because of its Echo smart speaker. Read more on this page.

As technologies advance, the majority of devices we use will work on voice commands. The problem for some owners is that people won’t be able to browse to find something. Only the top sellers will be displayed until search engines find a better way to display results. This should concert the customers because they will get the best decisions.

Social media affects everyone that owns a business because it is one of the best places to do e-commerce. Most of the platforms have implemented features where followers can purchase products directly from them. This changed many things because some businesses now run only on Instagram by having their own page where they can make the sale and are paying influencers to promote them.
